First Meeting of the 2012-2013 Academic Year!

Hello Everyone!

I just wanted to let you all know, we're back!  The Read to Lead series took a slight break to regroup and re-vamp but now we're back and better than ever! We're kicking off with our first event TOMORROW Tuesday, November 13th from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm in the CEO Leadership Lab (located in the basement of the Creese Student Center).

For a quick refresher, "Read to Lead" is Drexel University's premier leadership book club on campus.  The Book Club is a CEO LEAD Certified series of discussions centered on drawing themes of leadership out of popular books, developing an understanding for those themes, and helping the Drexel community integrate leadership qualities into their lives.  Every month, SLDT will choose a book to read and discuss.  Any student, especially student organization leaders, and Drexel faculty, staff and alumni, can join.  We will post book and article ideas on our blog, and members should feel free to comment on and discuss any current book selections and readings, ways we can improve the club, or make suggestions for future readings.

This month's "Read to Lead" Book Club Discussion will focus on the leadership attributes within the Harry Potter Book Series, specifically those in Book One: The Sorcerer's Stone.  This discussion will focus on the importance of delegation and trusting in the expertise of teammates and subordinates when making important decisions.  While the main focus will be on book one of the series, we'll also touch on additional leadership traits and themes that reoccur throughout the series.

I look forward to seeing you all there!

Ideas for our next book...

Hey guys! One of the suggestions we've received is to incorporate the leadership aspects of mainstream books into our discussions rather than focusing solely on "leadership books."

So, what better book/series to start with than................................. *drumroll*

Harry Potter!!!!

We would come together and discuss how Harry displayed leadership attributes and traits throughout the series.

Let us know what you think about this idea! Comment on this post, email us at dla1@drexel.edu or even post on our facebook wall.

Change is just around the corner!

At our last meeting on February 29th, there were several extremely valuable suggestions offered that will, hopefully, improve on the experience of the club in the future! We are working to integrate these changes and bring a bigger and better club to you in the Spring term!

Do YOU have any ideas that you think will help us make this book club more appealing and fun to the student population? If so, contact us at: dla1@drexel.edu . We'd love to hear from you!
